Reflective response to your reading

It’s time to reflect on the novel you have read.
Create a new post on your blog and give it a catchy heading.
Include the title and a photo of your book somewhere in your post.

Please answer all of the questions from 1-6

1. How did you feel about being given a book to read that was not necessarily your choice?

2. What genre does your book belong to and what makes you say that?

3. What other books have read in this genre?

4. In what ways did this book catch your attention?

5. In what ways did this book connect to your own personal experiences?

6.What connections can you make between this book and other books you have read?

Now select one of the following questions and create a new post to share your response.

1.How does this book connect to events that you know about in the world?

2.Select a chapter from the novel you have just read that you consider powerful or interesting. Then select words, lines and phrases that you think project strong images and show the impact the chapter makes. Arrange this material
into a poem and present it in any way you like.

3.Create a character’s room. We learn a lot about people by what they keep in their closets, what they have on their walls, what they select to put in a room. Select a character you are interested in from your book and create a living-room, bedroom, kitchen, garden or some other place that would mean a lot to the character. Draw it or write about it, making sure to include an explanation of why you designed this space as you did.

4.Create a piece of art which shows what the story meant to you and then explain it.

5. Discuss a reflection of your choice with your teacher.

The girls will be provided with the following options:

For $12.50 they will have the choice of a chicken or beef burger with chips.

If the girls require gluten-free rolls please specify on their order.
Likewise, if they don’t wish to have cheese.

Payment and orders will be due on Friday 8th this week in an envelope clearly marked with their name and burger choice and the correct money enclosed.

If they decide not to participate we welcome them to bring a picnic lunch on the day of our party.

Australian Government Funding for Canberra Trip

As you know, the girls have recently undertaken a highly educational tour of our national capital. They were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education.  The Australian Government contributes funding per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion to assist our school in meeting the cost of the trip.

We know that our trip to Canberra was of enormous educational benefit as well as an engaging opportunity for the girls to collaborate and learn in such a stimulating environment. Their behaviour was impeccable at all times and we were proud of the way the girls represented Wilderness school.
