Pink Casual Day – Huge Success!

Thank you to all of the Community Care Committee and Year 6 girls for the hard work you have put in today during the bake sale. We raised over $1000 for a brilliant cause, the Bhadure School in Nepal. You should all be extremely proud of yourselves!

A special thank you to all the parents  and caregivers for your support in baking and purchasing cakes for the event.

We have attached some photos for you all to see how successful the day was!

Meet Kieran Jackson, our pre service teacher

You may have heard the girls talk about Kieren Jackson our pre service teacher, who will be working with both classes for 5 weeks. He has written this letter to introduce himself to our Year 6 families.

Dear Parent/Caregiver,

My name is Kieran Jackson and I am a 4th year Bachelor of Education (Primary) student. The nature of my post today is to introduce myself. I am about to embark on my final step in becoming a registered teacher. I have been placed at Wilderness Primary School for my fourth and final placement, with Heather Davis as my site mentor in your daughter’s class. I am very excited to be allocated Wilderness as it is such a prestigious and well respected South Australian school. I feel it will be extremely beneficial in this final transitional phase to becoming a qualified teacher. My teaching philosophy involves students learning in a supportive and trusting environment. I believe in developing life long learners, by relating curriculum outcomes to the daily lives of students to gain meaning and understanding.

A little background information about myself, I am English born and moved to Australia aged 15. I finished off my schooling in Australia, attending Glenunga International High School before commencing my Bachelor of Education. Currently, I work in Before and After School Hours Care (OSHC) every weekday at Rose Park Primary School and have been doing so for the last 2 years. This experience has proven advantageous to my teaching as it allows opportunities to develop confidence and engage in numerous teaching and behaviour management strategies on a regular basis. My previous placements have been in a variety of year levels ranging from 2-7. This experience has seen me become particularly interested in the upper primary school year levels as I feel this is where my skills are best suited.

The placement block starts on Monday 22nd August and I will be with the class until 21st September. I have already visited three times as lead in days and am really enjoying the experience so far. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to come in and see me. I look forward to my stay and getting to further know the school environment.

Kind regards,

Kieran Jackson.

Your Avatars

In our Literacy rotations, the girls have been making avatars to use on their blogs.

They have been asked to reply to this post so that we can all see their avatars, which will appear each time they make a post or a comment.

We can’t wait to see them all 🙂

Join in the Wildy fun

Dear Parent/Caregivers

We hope you all had a fabulous break. Our girls have settled back into school life seamlessly coupled with endless energy and excitement! Of course the main excitement for the term is our impending trip to Canberra which you will hear more about soon.

We would be grateful if you would please read the paragraph below from Jodie Escott our Manager of Development and Community with regards to the Wilderness School Cocktail Party which is just 2 weeks away.

Many thanks,

Kindest regards

Jill and Heather

Our Wilderness School Cocktail Party is less than 2 weeks away. We only have one big fundraiser every 2 years. It is the perfect opportunity to raise major funds towards capital works for Wilderness while having a fabulous time.

The Foundation Events Committee has the reputation of holding phenomenal events and this will not disappoint.

Here is a taste of why people should come along:

  • Exclusive Gin Bars with the reputable Prohibition and Ounce
  • Fantastic entertainment including:- Burlesque, Jazz performers, Crooners and a 7 piece band
  • Lots of food and wine – there will be more food throughout the evening than a sit down dinner
  • PLUS of course the incredible Raffle Prize of 2 return flights to anywhere in the world flying Qatar
  • Then there are the brilliant Auction prizes

This, the décor and the fact we are holding the event in the area of the school which showcases the amazing facilities our girls are now enjoying will be enough to have everyone saying ‘WOW’.

Comfy, Cosy Casual Day a Huge Success

Comfy, Cosy Casual Day was filled with loads of fun and warm outfits. Although the weather was fearful everyone managed to keep warm and cosy and enjoy delicious treats such cupcakes baked and bought by our very generous and willing Year 6 girls and their parents. Well done to Holly Binks and her Community Care Committee for their outstanding effort and organisation! Over $800 was raised with all the proceeds going to the Bhadure School in Nepal.
