Yesterday we were all inspired by the guides who took us through the different court rooms at the High Court. Girls were fascinated, lots of budding barristers.
A trip to Mount Ainslie gave us an incredible view of the layout of our Capital city.
Fun and Games at the AIS
Happy birthday Rhea!!
Celebrities in the Making!
Wilderness girls have been in Canberra for just over 24 hours and already made the Advertiser!
Had a great night last night, everybody slept well and excited this morning, especially when we discovered our photo was in the paper.
Looking forward to a tour of the AIS- perhaps we might manage a photograph with Sally (Pearson that is). Then off to the High Court.
Exploring Parliament House
Year 6 has Landed Safe and Sound
We have landed in the National Capital and everyone is smiling and very excited!
First stop- Government House. You can imagine our disappointment when we arrived and were told we couldn’t go in because the Prime Minister and his ministers were being signed in.
Soon after the AFP officer at the gate waved us through and to our great surprise Sir Peter Cosgrove joined us and spoke to the girls. He explained the proceedings and told us the best place to stand to watch everyone arrive.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates from Canberra.
Solar Boats
Earlier this week we were lucky enough to have some really beautiful weather, and how better to spend this time than out testing the girls’ Solar Boats.
Over the course of this term the girls have been collaboratively designing and constructing boats that are able to float and move using solar power. This week’s testing proved very successful with the girls experiencing races, repairs and rescue missions.
Practical Parenting Workshop
Dear Parents/Caregivers
Even though we are in Canberra next week we would like to encourage you to attend the Practical Parenting Workshop that will be held in Week 10. A reminder about the email that was sent out with all the details is attached:
We are delighted to inform you about a Junior School parenting workshop that is being held at the end of the term. Please join us to hear from two psychologists, Alison Budden and Justin MacKenzie who will be discussing ways to help support your daughter at school and at home.
The workshop will cover practical strategies of how to increase your daughter’s self-efficacy, responsibility and independence. We strongly encourage you to attend this evening as this is an opportunity to hear from experts who can offer practical strategies to help support you and your daughter.
The evening is specifically for parents and therefore girls do not attend.
When: Wednesday 23 September 2015 (Week 10)
Time: 6:00 – 7:00pm
Venue: Hender Hall
To book: http://www.trybooking.com/JAZV

Dads’ and Daughters’
On Monday 7th of September Wilderness held their annual Dads’ and Daughters’ evening. It was truly incredible to see the numbers of girls bringing their dads out for a little bit of friendly Mind Lab game competition (and bonding of course).
Whilst we heard plenty of, ‘You are clearly cheating!!’ and ‘I think you are making up your own rules!’, it was clear both dads and daughters had a fantastic time engaging in the multitude of games available.
Thank you everyone who attended.
Lollies or lolly bags at school
Dear Parents/Caregivers
We ask that you please support us in ensuring that your girls do not bring lollies or lollie bags purchased at the Show to school.
